Saturday Night Under the Lights!

Under the bright lights of the arena, the atmosphere at the Stampede Shootout Open is electric—a thrilling showcase of talent and skill. All eyes are on the Ladies Breakaway Jackpot Roping, where cowgirls deliver a heart-pounding display of precision and speed.

​In this fast-paced competition, women's breakaway roping mirrors men's tie-down roping, but with a powerful twist: the cowgirls aren’t required to dismount and tie the calf. Instead, with a flick of the wrist, they release a flag tied to the end of their rope, sending it flying with razor-sharp accuracy. A nylon string connects the rope to the saddle horn, and once the rope makes contact with the calf, the flag breaks free, signaling a successful catch. The arena buzzes with excitement as the women demonstrate their unmatched horsemanship and roping skills under the dazzling lights, adding to the energy and spectacle of the night.
