Project Update June 14, 2023 :: For the Judith Basin County Fairgrounds renovation, the non-profit Stanford Open has been working with Jeff Southworth and Allied Steel, who brought in Apex Steel to help work on the project at cost given its importance to the Stanford community and region.
Apex Steel is in the process of finishing the grandstand structure covers. The concrete pad below is quite large — 36 feet by 125 feet and will have 5-foot sidewalks added all around it. Through Stanford Open’s strong relationship with Allied Steel, who fabricated the structures and deserves much credit, Apex Steel has donated any profit margin and is completing the work at cost/break even.
The upcoming 67th annual Stampede Rodeo on Sunday, July 16, will utilize the existing bleachers under the overhead. For permanent bleachers in the future, fundraising remains underway. Construction is on schedule, and the C.M. Russell Stampede Club is looking forward to its biggest and best rodeo yet.

The Stanford Open is a non-profit group organized to benefit the communities in Judith Basin County. In 2020, in a collaborative effort, they decided to use the proceeds from the annual golf tournament to try to revitalize and improve the fairgrounds arena. The fairgrounds is the only venue available here in Judith Basin County to host events. If we do not act now to preserve and improve this facility for the future, we risk losing it for the future generations.
These events are the life of our communities. In comparison to other county fairgrounds in surrounding counties of similar size, Judith Basin County lags behind significantly. Central Montana is an area people are attracted to. |
As of July 2022, great news on the JB County Fairgrounds Revitalization Project front! The fundraising efforts have been overwhelmingly successful. The project is fast approaching $1,000,000 in committed funds!
In order to accomodate grant funding requirements for this project, your participation with the survey is needed and will be helpful. Please take a moment and fill the survey below. Thank you, your support and generosity has been wonderful and very much appreciated! |
